Geological Time (Let's Take It Slow) by Meghan McKnight

Our second last show in the Likely General Gallery comes to us from cherished friend and local artist Meghan McKnight, whose work has been a staple of Likely General for many years. Meghan loves thinking about primordial processes, the rocks that hold life, fossilize it, the basis of our ecosystems. How in wine and produce we taste the earth, terroir. These works are about cataclysm and sediment, forms emerging over eons or forged out of tectonic disaster and gentle accidents. Delicate formations sculpted from cosmic dust.

Geological time is all painted using Beam Paints, made on Manitoulin Island, one of Meg's favourite places on earth. Her work arranged on the wall is a bit map-like, telling a story, who lives where, what do these forms do. What function in creation do they play? Her painted works speak to her collage work as well, which can be viewed in a binder within the gallery, as well as online here. Don't miss it!
